Are Proprietary Filters & Matte Boxes Worth It? Freewell Eiger Matte Box

Freewell Eiger Mattebox

There have been a flood of new matteboxes on the market, ranging from the traditional expensive ones, to more affordable, but proprietary systems. Freewell has recently came out with an Eiger mattebox, that's has some interesting ways of using filters.. and the price to quality is very attractive, but there is a catch. These filters are only compatible with their filter system.

I won’t be going over the details of the system, Jake Sloan made a great video doing just that and I’ll link his video down in the description.

So what makes this matte box different, and how does it stack up against the standardized systems.
